Spring Track and Field Competition Results

The Issyk Kul Secondary School track and field team delivered an exceptional performance at the Regional Spring Championships held last weekend, bringing home a total of 12 medals and setting several new personal and school records.

Competing against 15 schools from across the region, our athletes demonstrated remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the two-day event.

The boys' relay team captured gold in the 4x100m race with a time that broke the previous school record by nearly two seconds. Individual gold medals were also earned by Azat Ibraimov in the 800m race and Dinara Aliyeva in the girls' long jump competition.

"What impressed me most wasn't just the medals, but the way our athletes supported each other and competed with integrity," said Mr. Ermek Aliyev, Head Coach of the track team. "Every athlete gave their best effort, and many achieved personal bests even if they didn't reach the podium."

The team's success reflects months of dedicated training, often in challenging weather conditions. Many team members began conditioning work in the winter months and participated in early morning practice sessions before school.

Team captain Meerim Dzhusupova, who won silver in the 1500m race, credited the team's success to their cohesiveness and work ethic. "We push each other to improve every day, and we celebrate each other's successes. That supportive environment makes a huge difference when you're competing."

The school will recognize the team's achievements at a special assembly next week, where the athletes will share their experiences with younger students to inspire the next generation of track and field participants.

With this strong showing at the regional level, several of our athletes have qualified for the National Championships to be held in Bishkek next month.
